RESUMÉ

Kuo-Wei Lin (born 1982 in Taiwan), relocated in Paris in the end of 2000, in 2002 he started his art education in the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Art de Lyon, later in 2005 he attended an exchange program with a BRFE scholarship at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig.  In 2007 he received his degree Master of Art, postgraduate studies at Chelsea College of Art in London. From 2007 he attends the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee in Berlin and at the Institut für Kunst im Kontext, Universität der Künste Berlin, where he continues his art researches. Kuo-Wei Lin has exhibited widely internationally. Important shows include the Museum of Contemporary Art Taipei, MOCA, Taiwan (2009); Musuem of Japanese Art and Technology, Manggha, Kraków, Poland. (2008); Tate Britain, London, UK (2007); Goethe-Institut Lyon, France. (2006). He also co-founded and organized group project such as La Calavera (2007 one year art platform project in Villeurbanne), SUMO STUDIO (2006-2009) and in collaboration with GLOBAL ALIEN (since 2009).

His inspiration is a culmination of his Taiwanese background, one marred in a state of alienation and proximity, his quest to understand the odd in the ordinary and the insignificant in the monumental, and his fascination with human behavior. Decoding and reconstructing the present, understanding an environment begins with identifying the exceptional, making possible a novel interaction with it,

His projects took him to different continents. The cultural influence of these countries is evident in his works, producing artefacts from trees, pigeon spikes, postcards, city centers or country roads and illicit dumps. Combining the objects and the spaces that he finds to draw the spectator into questioning the present,

Berlin-based artist collective Global Alien creates a physical gateway to the gallery that questions how one functions when moving toward or away from home. Visitors to the gallery participate in the investigation of how one interacts with the people that may stand in the way of their destination.

The idea of "home" becomes a halted moment of transit, an in-between environment of potential restriction or liberation, much in the way that a home can be
